Whoops…

May 29, 2007

Big mistake, did a reboot for Beryl (whilst on Ubuntu) with the Windows XP Unattended installation CD in the drive. Unfortunately I wasn’t there when it ran from CD, and it promptly overwrote my entire Ubuntu installation (you have 60 seconds to select an HD to install to, or click cancel - I wasn’t there, and it overwrote it.)

So now I have Windows XP Professional again, after seeing I had it back, I nearly dissolved into tears (well not quite, but what’s wrong with a bit of exaggeration!) - then I got out my Windows XP pack, registered it to get rid of that god damn “BUY OUR PRODUCT” message and started to get to work with it.

All updates for this blog will now focus on Windows XP - instead of Ubuntu. Hopefully I won’t make this same mistake again.

Daniel.

Looking for a good Linux game? Try the Battle of Wesnoth!

May 28, 2007

Well, recently, since I installed Ubuntu, I’ve been quite bored - All the good games like Red Alert 2 (my personal favourite), CS:S and all the other good FPS, RTS etc games are Windows or Mac only.

I could, of course ran them through Wine - But thats really glitchy and doesn’t work properly for much. So I decided to trawl through the large database, and found this. The battle of Wesnoth.

It’s a sort of Turn-Based strategy game, but it’s really fun and quite addictive, once you get into it you’ll really enjoy it! Click more to find download instructions, etc.
